DJ/Host Nino Torre
A pioneer Mobile DJ since '76 and club DJ since '78. In '77 he started dancing and DJ'd at Phillips Dance Studio, the featured studio in "Saturday Night Fever" in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. He then competed in his first Dance contest, placing 2nd and 3rd in a few competitions in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. In '79 Nino held court at Kingsborough Community College with The Disco Dance Club, instructing Hustle to dance groups as large as 70 people during extra curricular sessions. Organized & hosted the College's first big party in the huge Seaside Cafeteria with 480 plus attendees. He later got his mixed tapes featured on the original 92KTU Radio show with Carlos DeJesus in '80. Started The Midnight Music Company, a DJ and entertainment business in 1988. Until 9/11, was employed for 4 years as resident DJ and promoter for Manhattan’s hottest Latin ‘after work’ dance party called “Mambo, Baby?” on Thursdays, at "The Greatest Bar On Earth” operated by “Windows On The World” atop tower #1 of The World Trade Center. These nights featured Salsa's greatest top performers on a weekly basis.

His versatile music program for Thursdays included Salsa, Merengue, Hip Hop, R&B, Club Classics and House. In early 2000 he was appointed to host a Friday Disco dance party to be called "Glitter" at 'The Greatest Bar'. His Disco music knowledge played a big role in this venture. He contracted performers & seasoned guest DJ’s, allowing him to host incredible weekly shows boasting true disco artists like Tavares, The Trammps, Musique, Crown Heights Affair, BT Express, GQ, Brass Construction, Lolleata Halloway, France Joli, Debbie Jacobs, Carol Douglas & lots more, making "Glitter" truly 'Legendary'.

Since 9/11, he's had DJ gigs at NYC clubs like The World, Saci, Centro Fly, Webster Hall, Avalon, Copacabana & many more.  Some of his DJ contracts through The Midnight Music Co. included The South Street Seaport Music Cruises, The Grammys, and MTV. Intl. bookings in Santo Domingo, Cancun and Miami.  Through his Midnight Music productions, he’s hosted events at E’toile, The Russian Tea Room, Vudu Lounge, The El Flamingo and NYC landmark, Tavern On The Green. In Jan. of 2002 Nino hosted five week event "The Club Classics DJ Competition". The event started in a small club called NOI in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, with the finals at Busker Browns in NYC. His contacts in the music industry were key in making this event credible for the DJ’s, by contributing their time to Judge the event. Salsoul, West End, Atlantic, Tommy Boy, radio stations WKTU and Kiss FM, and many more industry affiliates were on hand as needed. Impressively Nino Torre placed third in the Finals to Renee Hewitt 2nd and Nelson Roman in 1st place.

In August of 2004 Nino was contracted with DJ Gil Hernadez by Eastern Light Getaways for a Crab Fest weekend in Pennsylvania. The organizers utilized Nino's DJ services, sound equipment and live mix abilities. The stage performance included hip hop legends Chubb Rock, Whodini & Doug E Fresh. Later in September of 2004, his Classic Disco Mixes were featured on WKTU radio’s Sunday Night Classics program hosted by Joe Causi and another feature on the then new Mix 105 in November of ’04.

Since moving his family to Richmond, Virginia in late Summer of 2005, his focus jumped into a Hurricane Katrina Victims Fund-Raiser aimed at Richmond's Latino community. The event was featured on the local NBC TV channel 12 and was well attended. Nino Torre and his well rooted VA partner Tony Tan raised $1600 which was donated to The Red Cross. They later formed a DJ-Entertainment team and now operate under the name, NiteMix Productions. Nino has also established himself as the official Art Director, Music Coordinator, host and DJ for the Hustle & Salsa Dance Cruise that began 6 years ago. Nino has also been an invited DJ for National dance competitions MADJAM hosted by Dave Moldover, Disco America hosted by Donna Boyle & Joyce Szili and World Hustle Dance Championships hosted by Diane Nardone

From international night clubs in exotic locations, to the ballrooms of many Bride’s fantasy weddings, Nino Torre can mix entire programs of House, Hip Hop, Reggae, all Latin & Reggaeton, Disco, Oldies & top 40.  With skills in design & graphics and many years of print industry experience in NYC, he keeps busy at his new home office in Richmond, VA.
